On our last day of school before the holiday break, we officially completed our study of Andrew Clements. We presented our final projects to the class.
Then we participated in "Snowflakes for Sandy Hook." This project, which is being organized by the Connecticut PTSA, will help bring a winter wonderland to the students of Sandy Hook Elementary when they return to school in January. For more information visit the Connecticut PTSA website.
Today we took a brief trip to city hall to meet with Mayor Coleman! We found out a lot about what it's like to be mayor. We heard him talk about campaigning, what it takes to be the mayor, and even what his favorite sports teams are! Then we walked around the council chamber room and sat where our city council members and other local officials sit during meetings. As a souvenir we are bringing home a book called Greenspot and the Dots, which is all about recycling in the city of Columbus. Enjoy the slideshow of our trip!
What have we been up to lately? After finishing our first Andrew Clements book, we started a second. We will be using these books to discuss the author's style and compare and contrast various aspects of each story. We will then be completing a second book project which we are looking forward to presenting to the class at the end of next week.
Today we finished our first Andrew Clements book and presented the projects we have been working on for the past two weeks.
