Throughout the last few weeks we have been busy showing our understanding of the book Stone Fox by putting together a book project. Some of us made board games while others did ice experiments. We even had a few reader's theaters and a research project!
We were so excited to celebrate Kate's ninth birthday with her today! She read us a funny story about a cat and a mouse and we got to enjoy some brightly colored cupcakes! Happy Birthday Kate!
Thank you to everyone who visited us today at the science fair. We were very excited to share our planet projects with you!
We got to celebrate Charlie's 9th birthday this afternoon. Not only did we get to hear a fun Dr. Seuss story, we also enjoyed delicious Italian Ice! We hope you had an excellent birthday Charlie!
Thank you to our fearless room parents for putting on an excellent Valentines Day celebration! And thank you to the many families who generously donated supplies and snacks for the event!
Enjoy the slideshow from our Jump Rope for Heart experience this morning!
We got together with our first grade buddies today and made our blankets for Project Linus.
Today we finished the book Stone Fox. The surprise ending had us discussing what it means to show courage. We wrote what courage means coming from the perspective of three characters in the story. Don't forget to ask us about this book!
Asking questions before, during, and after reading is an important comprehension strategy for both fiction and non-fiction text. During reader's workshop we are practicing this strategy with complex stories that leave us wondering!
